New Eyes

I want you something that might seem a little strange today. Put on new eyes and imagine you are walking into your house for the very first time.

What do you see?

Do you see a welcoming entrance - a house in order - do you see a place where one would want to come home to?

Is it a home full of love and peace or chaos and stress?

What can YOU do to help improve your home right now. Focus on the things YOU can control.

Is there a "home" for everything?
Does everyone in the home KNOW where the "homes" are?
Notice where the natural piles form - shoes, mail, backpacks, paperwork, newspapers, flyers, pencils, pads of paper, ...... Find homes for these items - either where the natural piles form OR where the items are most used.

There is always "unseen" clutter hanging around; Things that have just become a part of the room that we no longer see. Books, magazines, water bottles, things that have been dumped to get to later, a pile of mail that keeps getting moved instead of actually dealt with.

You’ll also want to assess the decorations. Over time the knick-knacks and what-nots seem to overtake the rooms. We have pictures on the wall that we really don't like anymore because our tastes change. Statues, cute little boxes, vases of dried flowers that are way past their prime, plants that need to be re-potted or even worse the silk ones that no matter what you do the dust has become a part of the arrangement.

Look at these things carefully. Do you love them, do they make you happy to see them? Displaying too many knickknacks can be perceived as clutter. If there are things that are unloved, unused, unnecessary or just plain trash, get rid of it.

See what YOU can do today to work toward having the kind of home you want to live in.
